Rosemaling is older than most of what we wear. Three hundred years of it — flowering patterns painted onto cupboards, onto ceilings, onto plates hung from a nail. Ordinary things made carefully, made to be kept. Work done by women through long winters, without a signature, because the house needed it.

Before Copenhagen, before Paris, before any of it, this was the first hand. She grew up with it. Not studied. Drawn onto paper before she knew how to spell her surname.

Barmen sits on the edge of Norway. Gneiss and weather. Silk was never local. The contrast is the point. Hard and soft, kept in the same hand.
